Why did the chicken...
I'm a little behind in reporting on my trip. I'll catch up a bit this morning. First to answer the pressing question about why the chicken crossed the road...
Wait, it changed it's mind!
That's what happened on the country road I drove down while following the directions my phone gave me to Indianapolis. There was road construction on the main route, so I was directed to take some twisty hilly backroads that I never would have thought of taking on my own. After coming around one bend I saw four chickens in various stages of crossing the road and a car approaching from the other direction. We both slowed down and some of the chickens retreated to the side they were coming from. Then I looked at the driver of the other car and saw she was laughing. No doubt we were both thinking about the old joke that never seemed that funny to me, even as a kid. I prefer these parody answers, as told on Wikipedia:
Martin Luther King Jr.: Because it had a dream!
Colonel Sanders: I missed one?
Isaac Newton: Chickens at rest tend to stay at rest. Chickens in motion tend to cross the road
However you tell the joke, chickens are definitely at the top of the pecking order when it comes to farm animals generating amusement by crossing the road!
After arriving in Indianapolis, I visited the art museum. I really wanted to love the infinity mirror room on display, but I wasn't prepared to be escorted inside by a guard whose job it is to make sure no idiots go in and do something destructive. So the 45-second timed visit wasn't what I imagined experiencing. However, I very much appreciate having been introduced to the work of the artist Yayoi Kusama. I recommend this short video if you are curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBLkBKeNCzY and here is the photo I took of myself inside:
You can also see the security guard at the left edge of the photo.
Here are some other photos from my visit to the museum.
The Mobius ship (hardy har har):
This floor, which I was very pleased that we were allowed to walk on:
You can see on the left side of the 3rd photo the edge of a ramp for wheelchairs so that everyone can have the view shown in the 2nd photo. The first photo is the most challenging to observe (and photograph) because it is so close to the ground.
This sculpture made from piano wire and glass beads was interesting to view as the light caught it from different angles:
Finally, here's a short video of the installation in the lobby of the museum. I enjoyed spending a few minutes watching the flowers open and close. https://youtu.be/s5007aDpHI8
